Professional Maintenance Engineer
Requirements and tasks of professional maintenance engineer
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Member of the Institute for a period not less than two years.
  • Practice in the field of maintenance not less than five years.
  • Possession of 75 qualifying points at least according to Table (1).
  • Passing the test questions revolving around the topics listed in Table (2).
  • Passing a professional interview with subjects selected from the elements listed in Table (3)

Functions and capabilities that professional engineer becomes qualified to perform:
  • Planning and management of preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance.
  • Develop maintenance strategies for medium-sized project.
  • Training of newly graduated engineers and convey to them information and experiences in the field of operation and maintenance.
  • Engineering arbitration and resolving disputes in the field of operation and maintenance.
  • Management of operation and maintenance contracts.
  • Leading work team or chairing a maintenance workshop.
  • Preparation of the maintenance budget.

Maintenance Engineer Consultant
Requirements and tasks of maintenance engineer consultant:
  • Possession of valid professional engineer degree in maintenance.
  • Member of the Institute for a period not less than three years.
  • Experience in the field of operation and maintenance after obtaining a professional engineer degree not less than three years.
  • Passing a professional interview with subjects selected from the elements listed in Table (4).
  • Taking charge of leading responsibility in a big operation and maintenance project for no less than three years.
  • Training and supervising the work of a number of professional maintenance engineers.
  • Scientific and research output in the field of operation and maintenance
  • Articles and working papers published in local and international journals and conferences.
  • Original or translated literature.
Functions and capabilities that maintenance engineer consultant becomes qualified to perform:
  • Training of professional maintenance engineers.
  • Engineering arbitration and resolving disputes in all areas related to operation and maintenance.
  • Providing engineering consulting in the field of operation and maintenance. (Strategies, auditing and reviewing of health measures).
  • Taking charge of leading responsibilities in the field of operation and maintenance (heading large-scale project).
  • Signing of reports and preparing studies in the field of operation and maintenance.
  • Assessing operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Capability of overall Facility Management.
  • Ability to prepare studies on rehabilitation and extending the life of the facility and preparation of feasibility studies.
